What is your day like?

I feel like I never have enough hours in the day to do what I need. I have Freelance jobs I do plus I have to take care of the kids, and hold down a house. It seems really overwhelming lately because we need the money and I need to take care of the kids. I make sure I get out of the house at least once a day with my son and on Friday afternoons I take both kids to the library. I did join a gym but since I take the bus I have decided I don't have time for that...Am I the only one that feels this way??? surprised

Ironing ??? What is that??? That's why I use the dryer. I have only bought clothes that will get pressed in the dryer or I don't want them. Most clothes you can do that with. I grew up with a mother that was obsessed with wrinkly clothes. So now that I'm on my own I try not to ever use an iron.

Hectic would be the answer. My husband is often in the UK, leaving me in Spain with the kids. I work freelance in several different roles and the phone never seems to stop ringing! I fit in appointments whilst the kids are at school ,9 to 2pm here, and then in the afternoon if they have activities off we go. I write whilst I´m at the judo class "watching" them, do chores when I can and the ironing pile is generally almost up to the ceiling! At night I write or do my translation work when I can get a bit of peace I seem to spend all my time in the car going to and from school, clubs, aerobics ( for me!) etc. Some days I wonder how we get through it all. I have 4 dogs and a cat to care for as well, and hubby just goes off to work and comes home every weekend with only himself to think about! Wouldn´t change much though, unless I could make that ironing pile disappear!!

I think the days are really challenging... good thing we're type-a moms, eh, or we'd never get anything done! biggrin ...

My days are pretty jammed from the moment the first kid wakes (could be anytime from 1 a.m. fussiness... but it's typically around 5:30 to 6) to the marathon to get everyone out the door to work to picking up kids to home-dinner-baths-bedtimes-wiping-and-whining insanity. Then once everyone is down, some nights I have my second day, so to speak. I make coffee, I hit the computer for my sites like this one. That's usually until I basically can't stay awake anymore, maybe around 11. Rinse and repeat.

The biggest challenge for me has been keeping work-from-home time and kid-time separate. I don't want to neglect the kids, and I can't neglect the work. It's a juggling act. I finally resolved it by deciding no work while kids are awake. Doesn't make for much sleep... but then we moms don't really sleep, do we? The only exception I make is on weekends... I'll hop on and off the computer briefly when the kids are occupied playing quietly. I worked a LONG time to coax the three kids (twins age 1 and a 4-year-old) to nap at the same time on weekends. Not easy, since they are so different schedule-wise. But they usually do nap at the same time, and that's a nice stretch for getting work and cleaning done.

My to-do list never seems to end. That used to bother me, but I've made my peace with it. Now I just have my list, I prioritize it when I can steal a few minutes, and I work my way down. If it gets done, it gets done. If it doesn't, well, tomorrow is another day. lol
