When the going gets tough in corporate America, outsourcing is the answer. Apparently, parenting has followed suit, offering Moms and Dads the opportunity to contract out some of the dirty work.
Hire-a-finger-painter - For $299, you can hire one of Colorful Hands ' professional finger painting artists to teach a small group of kids the finer art of smearing acrylic paint. Tack on an additional $700, and you've got yourself a one-on-one collaborative workshop, complete with commissioned artwork.
The Shyness Program - Maria Zimmitti, Ph.D., offers a therapeutic program for shy children to overcome their bashfulness, and to assist in honing social skills. Treatment includes individual therapy sessions, homework and group therapy.
Sleep Trainer - Karen Kesti , an RN based in the San Francisco Bay area, offers many services under her "Infant Consultant" umbrella. But, it's Karen's sleep training methods that she's known for. For about $500, Karen consults with a family on training a newborn/infant to sleep with a "healthy alternative to CIO" (cry it out).
Personal Shopper - Carla Nemiroff charges $350 a day to sort through all the older, ill-fitting clothes in your kid's closet. If you'd like to hire this FIT (Fashion Institute) grad to replace the tossed outfits with new ones, that'll set you back $500 per day. Half days are also available.
Birds and Bees Teacher - At $99 a session, Lucille Barish, a social worker in Manhattan, will work with kids as young as 4 years old on the details of where babies come from. Teen services also available.
