Have you ever known a kid that was funny without even trying to be? Do you have one in your home or in your family? They bring a little much needed humor into your day. In my family it's my little brother Jonah. He's 18 years younger than me and so subtly and hilariously funny.
On a routine day of fifth grade, Jonah's walking down the hall at school with his class. The safety officer, a policeman, tells the kids to get on the wall. Apparently they were walking too far away from it and causing congestion in the hallway. Jonah immediately gets in frisking position on the wall as if he's being arrested. He looks around and his classmates are looking at him. The cop taps him on his shoulder and tells him to face forward with his left shoulder on the wall. Beyond my understanding, the cop does so in a very unemotional way. I guess it's his training.
You have to wonder what was not only going through Jonah's mind, but what was going through the cop's mind.
Jonah was just doing the first thing that came to mind. No thought behind it whatsoever.
The cop was probably thinking my brother had seen the show Cops one too many times or he's just a smart mouth kid trying to be funny.
But if he really knew my brother, he'd know he's neither one of those things; He's just Jonah. One of a kind Jonah.
