My mum and I have a great relationship. We talk about pretty much anything, and who knows where I would be without her, but when it comes to Mother’s Day I can spend hours scouring the card racks for a verse or quotes that says “Thanks for everything” in a way that reflects our relationship. We don’t really DO hearts and flowers, or cute teddies, or elaborate verse. So I have turned to the internet to find some words that I can add to a card (sans flowery verse) of my own, Mother's Day quotes and observations that will bring a smile to her face and let her know I appreciate how important the role of a mother is.
Here are some Mother's Day quotes for your own help and inspiration:
When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.
~ Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
It's not easy being a mother. If it were easy, fathers would do it.
~ From the television show The Golden Girls
One of the very few reasons I had any respect for my mother when I was thirteen was because she would reach into the sink with her bare hands - bare hands - and pick up that lethal gunk and drop it into the garbage. To top that, I saw her reach into the wet garbage bag and fish around in there looking for a lost teaspoon. Bare hands! - A kind of mad courage.
~ Robert Fulghum
God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.
~ Jewish Proverb
A man loves his sweetheart the most; his wife the best, but his mother the longest.
~ Irish Proverb
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.
