Mother's Day is supposed to be a beautiful day to celebrate all the mother's out there. It's a time of reflection on the opportunities of raising children. Unfortunately, there are many out there that do not share this day as a happy and beautiful day. It's not a time of sending flowers, cards, dressing up, and fancy dinners. Instead it brings painful reminders of something that once was but now is lost.

When mothers or children pass away, of course this is a devastating time no matter what time of year. But when Mother's Day approaches it's a day that really is best forgotten in many's eyes. May sound harsh but it's reality. Men, women, and children that have lost a mother sees Mother's Day as a sad reminder of what they do not have anymore. Yes they may have wonderful memories but it still hurts all the same.

In turn it's also the same for a mother who has lost a baby or a child. They may feel they have failed as a mother and do not deserve to be recognized on this day or they feel cheated from this day.

These people may feel alone and feel like they are the only ones facing the devastation of not having a mother or child in their life. It's important to still ackowledge what these individuals have once had. Ignoring it does not help but makes it worse in these individuals eyes.

If you know of anyone that doesn't have a mother or a child to cling to this Mother's Day, just let them know you are thinking of them during this time. This is all you need to say.

Being a mother without a precious son this Mother's Day is difficult but knowing and helping other's cope with this type situation brings me joy and peace.
