I first fell in love with the Maclaren stroller this summer. There we all were, at the Bronx Zoo. I was pushing my regular Graco stroller. Next thing I know, out of the corner of my eye comes these two slender sleek strollers strolling past me. The main thing that caught my eye was the word "Maclaren".
One was hot pink, the other was grey. Also the women that were pushing these things looked so put together. Then I look down at my raggedy ole' stroller and suddenly it became this bulky blundering heap of junk. I had to find out more about this "Maclaren".
So I went online and did all this research. At the website I found all diffrent colors and styles. I had caught the "Maclaren syndrome" as I call it. They are the lightest umbrella strollers, except for in your wallet. Because these little beauties cost a pretty penny...or should I say a gorgeous dollar. ($99-$200) You may get a better deal if you go to Amazon.com or something. I mean they don't have anything special except for this little rain gaurd sheild thing, and a foot extender.
Anyway there I was in Babies R Us, all googly eyed. Then my husband says to me "just get a $20 umbrella stroller, it does the same thing". How dare he say that to me! I gave birth to this baby and she will have the best! No, I'm not out of the "loop" I will look better pushing my baby in this stroller, because it will show how much I care about my baby and how put together I am. I'm no raggedy stroller pusher!! So after that argument passed, we walk out of the store with My new "Maclaren"!
It's been a month now and I must say I do still love my Maclaren stroller. But they are best used in a Mall or stores of that nature. Maneuvering aisles are a breeze. It doesn't hold much in the bottom basket, although there is a small flap pocket on the back of the hood. It only holds a bottle or two, maybe even a diaper and wipe pack. It's not for strolling in the grass or anything "outside"
That's where my old faithful comes in. I mean It has the bottle holders for me and baby and trays too. (You have to buy that extra and attach to Maclaren $20) Also I don't mind if it gets banged up going over rocks, stumps or grass. The hood gives ecellent shade, which I found lacking with the other stroller.
I know the Graco was the more practical stroller. I should not have paid so much for a damn umbrella stroller. Even though I'm glad I got it. I really only use it for show. But hey, that is a lesson learned. So maybe everything that comes out of my husband mouth isn't always stupid...just simple. Like I should've just bought a simple umbrella stroller for a simple $20 bucks.
I have two of them, a "Global" for the infant stage and a "Triumph" for toddlers and I love, love, love both of them. I don't care about the storage - I like that I can pick them up easily, fold/unfold easily, the kids are comfortable and the stroller isn't bulky when pushing in a crowd, whether on the street in Manhattan, in the suburban mall, in the airport or at Disney. I also like that they have a high weight limit (55 lbs), so my 32 pound 4 year old can still easily ride in the Triumph if necessary (at Disney, for example). I'm sorry that you aren't enjoying yours quite as much and hope your opinion improves with time.
I had one heck of a time convincing my mother-in-law that any stroller was worth what the Twin Techno cost. And then she pushed it herself. Best.stroller.EVER.
