As if I needed another babywearing device! What can I say, it's an addiction. I can't be expected to wear the same shirt each day, so why on earth would I wear the same baby carrier? How does the low-priced Jelly Bean Reversible Sling by Munchkin compare to others?
Style
I know it's called a sling, but it's more in the pouch category because it's not entirely adjustable. I chose the cappuccino/sky pattern but it comes in three more pattern/color schemes.
Usability & Comfort
I hadn't used a pouch before and it was very easy. The manual that came with it was very easy to understand. I used it for my trip to Portland last week, walking around the zoo all day long with baby sleeping snugly in the jelly bean.
Pay close attention to the sizing. Mine is a large, I think it might be a bit too big, but I figured out how to double fold the shoulder and bring baby up just a little bit higher. After wearing her all day I didn't experience back or shoulder fatigue like I do with my Maya Wrap ring sling.
Conclusion
I think the Jelly Bean was more comfortable because I could switch sides easier. I don't like switching shoulders with the Maya because the tag shows.
I also like the hidden pocket in the Jelly Bean. It's big enough for one disposable diaper (Yes, I use disposables on vacation) and a set of keys and a zoo map. I like that I was able to move baby from my front to my hip to my back without removing the carrier. And it's cute. I do have trip pictures on my blog, but this picture is from the Munchkin website
The Jelly Bean is more comfortable and convenient than the Maya Wrap Ring Sling. It's easier to use than the Moby Wrap. It's entirely washable and super cute. I'm tempted to buy another, look at the Rainbow Sherbet pattern.
