It’s that time of year when everyone’s spirits are in need of a post-winter boost, so why not celebrate all things yellow, fluffy and chocolatey and throw family and friends an Easter Party! The weather is on an upward turn and spring is on its way, so have a look at some of the following suggestions and make it a fun-packed family Easter this year!
Egg Decorating
You will need:
Hard boiled eggs
Paints
Toilet Roll tube
Pipe cleaners and scraps of material
Cut 1 inch rings from the toilet roll, and sit the eggs on the top.
Let your creative side go wild!! Create people, Easter scenes, or just wild and wacky colours.
Egg Race
This is great if the weather isn’t too warm, as it can be done inside or out. Mark out a clear start and finish line, approximately 5 meters in length. If there are under 5 participants, supply each one with one hard boiled egg and a straw. (If there are more than 5, create teams of two and the race will be completed as a relay.) The aim is to get the egg form the start to the finish blowing the egg with the straw. Of course we all know eggs don’t roll straight….so let the chaos commence!
Easter egg hunt
Hide small chocolate eggs, fluffy chicks and chocolate coins around the garden and house and send the kids (small AND large!) out to hunt for them. The winner brings in the biggest haul! You can also colour code the eggs so that for younger children they are easier to find but not grabbed by older kids first!
Pin the Tail on the Bunny
self eggs-planatory really, but change the usual donkey for a bunny instead!
Egg and Spoon Race
You can use chocolate eggs on spoons, and this is another game guaranteed to unite old and young alike!
Eggs-actly How Many Eggs?
Fill a jar with mini-eggs and supply a sheet of paper so party goers can write their name and estimate how many eggs there are. Winner takes all! (Just remember to actually count them in to start with!)
Easter Bunny Says
Played the same as Simon Says but with the Easter Bunny in the starring role. Choose a bunny and they have to dictate what action the group should carry out, starting the sentence with “Easter Bunny Says…nibble on a carrot / hop on one leg etc etc”. Should the sentence NOT start with those words, then the group must NOT carry out the given task…those caught doing the task are out!
Bunny Bounce
Create large bunny shapes, 1 for every child. Start the game with one child (and participating adult!) standing on one bunny. Start the music, and let the kid’s dance, whilst you remove one bunny. The aim of the game is, when the music stops, you bounce on a bunny and the person left without hops off! Continue until there is only one bunny left, and the last person to grab it is the winner.
