When your kids are little and everyone asks the oh-so-original question, "What do you want to be when you grow up Hannah?" Don't you just want to smack that person?
Lonely.
That was never a feeling I expected to feel when I chose to be a
stay-at-home mom while finishing my senior year of college. Most people probably would think this is
ironic (as do I). I am still a newlywed
(I consider less than 2 years newlywed) and have a really handsome, terrific
9-month-old son. I realize this and am
not unhappy with my life. Being a
full-time student, full-time mother, and full-time wife is the path I chose and
the path I adore.
Hey Moms! Anyone else out there ever suffer from depression? Oh, come on, there's no shame in this! That's more like it. We're all friends here and we should be able to share, right? Share without being ridiculed or made to feel guilt by Scientologists who have such perfect lives they believe in Aliens and Feeling Superior to Mere Mortals!
I'm constantly going through these little moments in life with my daughter that have not exactly earned the title of "milestones" yet are still valued in my heart. So I am calling them "milepebbles".
They are the moments that enter through your eyes, whisper into your heart, create a wonderful swell of love within your spirit and finally leave you with a lump in your throat. The moments trigger an identification to you that your child just grew a little more. You realize precious moments with your child happening yesterday remain right there - yesterday. That moment, without notice, left the party... and a new and different moment took it's place.
I truly enjoy being a mother, it is such a rewarding experience. I am also wife, a preschool teacher, a musician/singer/songwriter, and a freelance writer. I truly enjoy having a rich and full life it surely keeps me productive. I am the type of person who cannot sit still, I always have to be doing something. I am learning that I do need to take mommy timeouts just to breathe. Not doing this can cause for a stressful life and of course this is not healthy.
