Pregnant with our third child a little unexpectedly, my husband and I faced a true dilemma. We were going to have to fit three kids into the backseat of a Jeep Liberty (a small SUV), and we were going to have to do it safely. Carseats are a wonderful thing - they definitely have helped make our kids safer, but cars and smaller SUV's don't leave much room if you have more than two kids! When exactly does postpartum depression go away? When I was pregnant with my first, it took about 6 months. However, with twins, does that mean it takes twice as long? They're just over 5 months now and I love them dearly, but I am so depressed that I’m pretty sure my absent mindedness of my own personal care is a symptom of the depression and not sleep deprivation. How do I overcome it? How do I find the special things that gets every mom through the day? How do I find that special something that makes a mom snap out of her postpartum and say to herself “Oh, wow! Look at this perfect little angel that has come from my husband and myself. I so love being a mom.” When does that come? Because right now, I’m so not feeling it. Tags: PPDpostpartum depressionpregnancymombaby
Have you ever been at a loss on what to do with your child? They've been misbehaving, acting out, throwing tantrums, and totally unmanageable. It's hard because you just can't get a hold of what's making them act the way they do. You know your child the best, but you're also so close it's hard to see the big picture. That's where I think it helps to do a little behavior analysis at home. Let me make it clear that sometimes we need outside help. If the behavior is not developmentally appropriate, you have concerns about the child's or someone else's safety, or you're really unable to cope, you should find assistance from someone experienced with applied behavior analysis. Turn to your pediatrician, teacher, school psychologist, or school counselor for guidance.
As a stepparent, you will probably go through many times of feeling resentment toward your stepchild's biological parent. Depending on your unique situation, you may feel used or may just feel angry when you watch your stepchild's disappointment at being let down yet again by their mom/dad. Such strong feelings really make it hard to contain the resentment. Step parenting is a hard job, but feeling used, undervalued and completely unappreciated makes it a thousand times harder! Living with resentment and keeping it away from the kids is NOT an easy task! part of motherhood that everyone talks about, but you can never really
understand. Is she teething or not? Is she going to get a tooth this
week or in three months? It seems she has been teething forever.

Four blissful days....four days to be reminded how wonderful my
children are, what a beautiful giggle my youngest has, how bright and
curious my older one is, and how sweet and caring my hubby is. Since I started my second company I
have barely taken a day off (and yes, I do mean working weekends) let
alone four days off. I am not complaining. That is nature of being an
entrepreneur and the reality of running a start up. And most days, I
don't regret it. And most days, I still get time with my kids and my
hubby, so yes, I have it pretty good.
Life a single moms can be both challenging and rewarding. The perspective you take throughout this journey will determine if your days are filled with sadness or joy. Here are a few tips to make the trip a peaceful one and hopefully motivate you to be successful in this role.
Little Carrie and Johnny are at war and are about to launch WWIII, your fool-proof casserole is burning and your child support delinquent ex is on the phone demanding visitation rights even though he hasn’t sent one red cent in child support in the last six months. Does this sound like a typical day in your life? For single moms this scene is all too common. The best thing to do at this point is pick your battles. It is easier said than done but your sanity demands that you decide what battle you will fight today, this week, this month, or this year. My son just started high school. The last two weeks he has been a totally different child. Apparently he now thinks that because he is in high school he no longer will be told what to do at home. However, I'm afraid he is sadly mistaken.
