Do you have a hard time getting going on your housekeeping chores? Put on your favorite music to help you forget the task at hand. Use these housekeeping shortcuts to breeze right through your to-do list.
Clean the clutter first.
Remove the clutter from all horizontal places like floors and coffee
tables before you do anything else. Make sure you carry around a basket
to put the clutter into.
Clean from top to bottom.
Start with the ceiling and work your way down. If you start cleaning
the ceiling and the ceiling fans all the dust will fall to the floor.
(Somewhere that hasn't been cleaned yet.) Remember to shake the dust
out of your curtains and dust all the other surfaces. Make sure you
clean your floors and carpets last.
Clean from side to side.
Move everything on your shelves and cabinets to the right side to
clean the left side, and then do the other side the same way. This will
save you time because you won't have to take everything off the shelves
to clean them.
Let the cleaners work for you.
Spray on your cleaner and then wait a couple of minutes. Don't waste
this time, you can be doing something else. Like if you are cleaning
the shove spray on the spray and then do a load of dishes or clean the
countertops.
Save energy (your energy).
Make sure you have all your supplies with you. Carry them all in a
bucket or a caddy so you can easily take them from room to room.
Don't get distracted.
Focusing on a task gives you the momentum to keep going. Pick
something to clean and keep at it until its done. If the phone rings
let the voice mail pick it up. That's what answering machines are for.
Don't be afraid of shortcuts.
Look for ways that will help you save time. Things like letting your
dishes air-dry or use a duvet with a cover instead of a top sheet and
comforter on your bed. If you like everything perfect consider lowering
your standards so you can give yourself some more free time.
Dont' make more work for yourself.
If you only need to spot clean your wall spot clean it instead of
having to clean the whole wall! If your clothes aren't dirty after you
wear them once go ahead and wear them again, to help cut down on
laundry.
Have a cleaning routine.
When you incorporate cleaning into your routine it becomes second
nature. You will soon feel where you aren't even thinking of what you
are doing you just do it.
Clean up messes right away.
It is way easier to clean when it's wet instead of dry. This goes for all spills; in your kitchen, your oven or on your clothes.
Notice where there is extra garbage.
Out garbage cans where you have garbage: bathrooms, livingroom, bedrooms, your office and any where else you may notice.
