houecleaning_schedule.jpgSome people do every chore in their house and won't stop until that happens. Others feel overwhelmed at the prospect of where to start. When you have a handy housecleaning schedule and checklist to follow chores can be easier to do.

Daily Housecleaning Schedule

If you incorporate these cleaning tasks into your daily life you will do them without thinking.

  • Keep your kitchen clean. Clean up after each meal and make sure counters are clean.
  • Change your kitchen linens (Dishcloths and tea towels.) Everyday.
  • Sweep the kitchen floor.
  • Keep bathroom sinks and towels clean.
  • Keep you toilet very clean.
  • Put stray items around your house back in their place so it won't lead to clutter.
  • Do a load of laundry a day, consider picking a day of the week for each different load.  For example: Towel Monday, Bedlinen Tuesday, Whites Wednesday, etc. If you can hang up your laundry you can save energy too.

Weekly Housecleaning Schedule

There is some cleaning that doesn't have to be done every day. Do a couple of these chores each day during the week so you aren't stuck doing them all in one day.

  • Change bedsheets at least once a week.
  • Change your bathroom towels that you use for a shower two or three times a week.
  • Vaccuum all carpets.
  • Wash all floors.
  • Dust.
  • Wipe down door handles and light switches.
  • Clean your whole bathroom; toilet, sink, shower, tiles, mirrors and the floor.
  • Clean the areas of the kitchen that weren't covered by your daily chores; wiping cupboard doors, splashbacks, oven, microwave, fridge, windows and especially the garbage cans.

Monthly Housecleaning Schedule

These are just some extra cleaning that you can do monthly to keep your house ship-shape.

  • Clean windows, inside and out.
  • Wash mattress covers and pillow protectors.
  • Turn your mattress.
  • Go through your cupboards getting rid of the things you don't use.
  • Clean your lamps and lamp shades.
  • Clean the inside of the oven.
  • Dust your blinds, door tops and picture frames.

Spring and Fall Housecleaning Schedule

Cleaning up for spring and fall is a good idea. It gives you a chance to go through and give your house a really good clean.

  • Wash all blankets and pillows.
  • Change your seasonal clothes around and get rid of the things that don't fit or won't fit next season.
  • Things that haven't been worn for three years should be given away.
  • Clean all the walls, ceilings and floors.
  • Vacuum and organize your books, CD's, DVD's and shelves.
  • Clean under furniture and appliances.
  • Shampoo carpets and furniture.
  • Get rid of all broken things or anything you don't use.
