There are those days we get home from work or picking the kids up from school, soccer practice or karate. We begin to start dinner or order take out and notice this unbearably large load of laundry reaching for you, crying out “ please wash me or we’ll get taller”. You find yourself running toward the cabinets by passing your family, ducking and dodging.
You’ve become Lara Croft in the search for missing detergent and bleach. You get that done and over with and suddenly the kids room look like they’ve been hit by a tornado. What I have recently learned is to make cleaning enjoyable.
If you really want your kids participation in the fight against the living laundry and cleaning the house, you can create a song or do a bee bop, or even rap about cleaning the room. This is something to not only teach your children about cleaning but taking on a responsibility, doing this is a wonderful idea for teaching your little ones who are at that age when leaving toys everywhere can hurt mommy’s feet in the middle of night.
Play some music while lightening up the wash load and the mood while cleaning the house, kids really love stuff like that especially when their parents get a chance to show them their old throwback dance moves. Participation is the key that way you can still have time to help them with their homework, sneak in some You Time while everything is done completely and in a timely fashion. You are not being stalked by the laundry and the hero walks away victorious .
Music can be a great help when cleaning! Our children have morning chores, plus a zone of the house they are responsible for. I can't say they always have fun cleaning (I know they don't!), but they know it has to be done and we are a family so we work together. Do you have a favorite 'cleaning music' CD?
You know to be honest with you I like Fleetwood Mac to Mary J Blige. I usually use their Disney Sing along songs because I know they are gonna sing to it while cleaning up.
But if you and your family have a favorite song then play away. You know how kids are they can have their moments when they dont want to play but a big but if you play some music get them moving watch how fast you guys get that house clean. Thanks so much for commenting you rock !
