3 tips for keeping pens handy

Keep Mom's pens in a separate holder A prime cause of disappearing pens is children. Who knows what they do with them, but only a fraction of pens taken ever return. Perhaps the pens are off having a wild party with the one socks somewhere. Who knows. That is what I hope, actually, and not that they have met with an untimely demise. I prefer to think that the pens are off making whoopee, rather than contemplating their staggeringly large mortality rate. But, I digress. If you want to have pens, keep them in your own holder that is off limits to the kiddies. If you are the crafty type, you can decoupage a picture on the front of your child/ren inside a big circle with a slash through it.

Keep an extra box in the cabinet I do this in the pantry for diced tomatoes and molasses, but for some reason, it took me a long time to realize I could do this with pens. Buy a couple of boxes, and when the last one is opened, put 'pens' on the list. Then buy them. Whether they are on sale or not.

Chain your pen down For places where you often need a pen, such as at your desk or right by the telephone, consider buying the kind on a chain. The banks are not stupid, they have documented film footage of pens growing arms and legs and walking off. So banks chain pens down. You should to. Do not feel bad about this. Your pen might think he would have a great time off partying with the one socks, but you are wise in the ways of the world. The good times might roll at first, but, know in your heart that you are saving him from expiring alone and unwanted, most likely of some kind of mutating foot fungus. Pens on chains (and their refills) are available at all major office supply stores (such as Office Depot or Office Max).
