We all know that our grandmas, and even our moms, say "Don't buy me anything. I have everything I need." But we still want to get them a gift whether it be their birthday, Valentine's day, Christmas, or just to say "I love you."
If they happen to be in a nursing home, assisted living, or living at home, there are a lots of ways to give them a "gift".
Some unique gift suggestions I have used myself for my grandmother who was on a limited budget was to go to the store and buy her some groceries. She was really tickled to have this gift because it helped her to stretch her food budget
I would also take her out shopping, and out to eat as she did not drive. It could be grocery shopping, or just going out window shopping. She got out of the house plus she and I got to spend time together.
Some other ideas are:
Stamps, writing paper and envelopes
Helping them clean house or doing laundry
Taking them for a drive
Giving them a gift card from the grocery store
Taking them to the library if they like to read
Spend time with them
Gifts do not have to be material items. They can just be from the heart and doing something with them or for them. So the next time you need a "gift" for Grandma or Mom, just remember this list.
