Brain Fitness is catching on among the older folks. Yes, brain fitness. We're constantly being advised by our physicians, health professionals and even scientists that physical fitness is crucial in our quests for longevity, but now our brains are getting a bit of attention too.

As a Baby Booming Grandma, of course I want my brain to be in optimal mode at all times, so I did a little research on brain fitness. It seems that memory and attentiveness are right up there in desirability, and one health insurer, Humana, is even offering brain teasing software to Medicare recipients. Diet and physical exercise are also correlated to brain health, and the AARP is encouraging senior citizens to eat more brain energy foods such as mackerel and kale.

And research has kicked up a notch or two in the development of mind fitness and mind aerobic programs such as Happy Neuron, a web-based program designed to keep keen the mind, and vibrantBrains, a "health club for your brain."

All of this is very interesting, and I thought to myself, "Hmm. Let me put my memory to the test with things 'grandchildren'."

For the youngest ones, I certainly know that Dora is Diego's cousin, and best friends Backpack, Map and Boots often come along on the learning ride. But how does Swiper fit in?

Then there's The Backyardigans, where Pablo, Tyrone, Uniqua, Austin, Tasha and Sherman take us on great adventures right from their back yards. Or is it one huge back yard?

Let's talk Wonder Pets. What do we get with these little characters? That's easy... Teamwork!

OK. Now I am on a brain fitness roll here.

On to the older grandchildren. Hannah Montana leads a double life with Miley Cyrus. Or is it Miley Stewart? And Zack & Cody. Aren't they the twins?

OK. Maybe I do need a health club for my brain. Maybe I need more mackerel and kale. Maybe I do need a place in "Facebook for the 50-plus crowd" to help me with the most important brain-stored information in my life - things to impress my grandkids.
