So many families feel that they have to take the biggest and most lavish vacations. This simply is not true. Camping is one way to really cut heavy costs. If you already have an RV or a camper to take on the road you are all ready good to go. The main worry for cost is gas and groceries and possibly a small state park fee for the camping grounds. As far as entertainment you have hiking, swimming, fishing, sports etc. Some family members may really miss the entertainment of television or movies.

Bringing along a portable DVD player with DVD's can make an evening of camping exciting after a time of roasting marshmallows providing that you already have this item at home. This is excellent for rainy days as well. Wal-Mart sells them for a very inexpensive price. If the children have portable game systems, have them bring those along as well. There are so many ways of making a camping trip exciting granting everyone a fabulous time.

Places like the Wisconsin Dells are also a wonderful destination for an inexpensive yet enjoyable vacation. The cost effectiveness works best if you plan it as a road trip. Air faire can really add up on top of any other costs you may face on your trip. The Wisconsin Dells is known as the watermark capital of the world. If you do choose to fly for your trip, paying for coach seats is far cheaper than paying for first class. This will also be cost effective and save extra money for the rest of the trip.

As you can see there are many ways to get around the burden of heavy costs for a family vacation. This is always beneficial to larger families or families that are starting out. It is nice to save up once in a while for a grand vacation but crunching will give you more for your money, especially in the long run.
