Marriage is such a noble calling but it is also a challenge. It is such a challenge that not too many couples are able to stay married. I know that personally my husband and I went through some marriage testing these past two years after our newborn son died shortly after birth. At first it brought us closer together but then it took a toll and divorce was on the horizon. Marriage is something to be celebrated, especially when your anniversary approaches, and renewing your vows is a wonderful way to do this.

married_couple.jpgThe day you say your I do's is an exciting day, but in the midst of all the glitz, glammer, and planning, it's so easy to just repeat those vows but think of other things. Did you really mean those vows that were being said? After all it's promise you made before God and witnesses.

As my husband and I have now hit our 9 year wedding annivesary, we have talked about renewing our vows on our 10th. I want to remember and really mean what I vowed to God and my husband. Since our tragedy, I feel it's good to have a fresh start beginning a new decade of marriage.

When planning to renew your vows, involve your entire family. Everyone will want to celebrate this joyous occasion with you. You can make it formal or informal it's up to you. My father is a minister so I plan on him being there to perform the renewal ceremony.

You can even relive your wedding day by having some of the same things available. Maybe a replica of your original wedding cake, or how about the same music, etc. The possibilities are endless. Anniveraries are something to truly celebrate and this is what my husband and I plan on doing!
