With the summer months approaching, it's usually an exciting time for families to start planning their vacations. This year it may not be as exciting with the continual climb of the gas prices. It's almost discouraging to those who desire to take road trips, especially for larger families which involve larger vehicles. These vehicles obviously suck the gas much quicker than the smaller cars out there. How do you plan for a vacation with such a dilemma?
It's good to sit down as a family and look at the family budget to see if taking a road trip is still feasible for your family. The fact is you want to save money on gas and get more for your money.
This summer families may have to consider taking shorter route road trips. By the time you fork out money for all the gas, you may hit a financial snag for the rest of the trip, and this you do not want.
Some gas stations are cutting costumers deals by offering lower gas prices if you pay cash or get a car wash included. Paying with credit cards will get you a higher price.
As a family keep your eye out on the best prices out there since there are gas prices worth driving for. Meijer is known to offer one of the lowest prices out there but it's good to keep your eyes open for those lower prices.
Another alternative for families is to maybe rent a smaller vehicle with better gas mileage but this would depend on the size and how comfortable everybody would be for the trip. It may be worth the sacrifice for shorter trips.
If you want to avoid the gas prices altogether, consider flying to destinations where family members can pick you up from the air port and take you wherever you need to go within city limits.
Either way, try your best to enjoy your summer and do not let those prices get you down! Get Creative!
