Many families have had the devastating experience of losing someone close to them whether it is a parent, a grandparent, a sibling etc. Shock and denial is something the family may face during this difficult time and this may even burden a family. Marriages get tested and families have a difficult time coping. Where do you go from here?

During this time a family may feel confused, lost, and just completely devastated. The willingness to move forward in life may be non existent. How does one continue with everyday life and routines?

It's not easy and is extremely challenging, especially when everyone's idea of grieving and coping is different. Not one is expected to grieve like the other. One's idea may be to isolate themselves and not talk about it when another one's idea is to talk it out. No one is right or wrong in their decision. The only wrong choice in grieving is when it comes to harming themselves or the lives of others. This is when medical help is going to have to be sought.

It's important as a family to sit down and try to communicate the best that they can their feelings since bottling them up inside will cause a person to snap or act out in negative manners. If one is unable to communicate their feelings out loud, forcing them may cause negative reactions. Have them write down their feelings in a journal since it may be better expressed this way.

Family's everyday lives will be changed forever due to their loss. There may be emptiness or a void that they may feel cannot be filled. Families get torn apart because the pain is so great. To avoid such things, the best thing to do is pray! Prayer is power and can get a family through some really tough times.
