Father's Day is fast approaching and every year it can be difficult to decide what to do for the father in your life. Kids like to get involved of course but everything costs money but it doesn't have to, there are ways to make Father's Day a special day without breaking the bank and involving the kids.

fathers_day.jpg Most kids love the experience of cooking. Getting them involved with cooking activities can be fun and exciting, especially when it involves making it for someone special. Ask your child/ren what they would like to bake for their father as a special gift. It may be a cake, cookies, cupcakes etc.

Making them with special themes can be cute. With the cupcakes you could decorate the frosting in masculine colors like blues, greens etc. Have the children make cute little neck ties on top with either tubed frosting or with sweet food items.

Father's Day coupons. Each child could make up their own coupons for dad. They could be good for taking out the trash, washing the car, mowing the lawn etc. Letting dad know that you are willing to help him around the house is a grand gift, especially if he works out of the home full time.

Father's Day movie. Have the kids rent a movie they know their day would absolutely love. Set the living room up like a movie theatre with chairs etc. Have fun snacks like at the theatre: Popcorn, candy, soda, nachos, hotdogs etc. The dad in your life will surely get a kick out of this idea.

Father's Day card. Instead of buying the tradition card, buy supplies where the child/ren can make their own card for dad. Crayons, markers, glitter, glue, scraps, paints, etc., will make this homemade card unforgettable.
