What is a doula?  I had heard the term before, yet I never imagined I would be using one after my second son was born.  I found my very special doula online, after I was going through the "baby blues", and needed some extra help.

With no close relatives nearby, and a 5 year old to take care of, I was in desperate need of some help and TLC the first few weeks after the baby was taken home.

Having a doula helped me in several ways. First, she helped me survive those first few weeks after the baby.  She helped me with laundry and light housekeeping, cooked wonderful healthy meals, and ran errands when needed.

This enabled me to rest and adjust to being a new mom.  She also provided me with literature, articles, and pratical advice on breastfeeding.

I would recommend a doula to any new or experienced mom who might be experiencing post "baby blues."
