If you're just beginning to navigate the wealth of online resources available to those that are trying to conceive, you may need a little cheat sheet to help you with all of the trying to conceive abbreviations that are used in forums and message boards.  This is by no means a complete list, but in my experience, are some of the most common terms. 

Trying to Conceive Abbreviations

AF-  Aunt Flo, or your menstrual cycle

BBT- Basal body temperature

BD-  Baby dance, sex

Beta-  Blood test for pregnancy

CM- Cervical mucus

CP- Cervical position

DPO- Days past ovulation

EC- Embryo cyro (freezing)

EWCM- Egg white cervical mucus

ER- Egg retrieval

ET- Egg transfer

hCG- Human Chorionic Gonadotropin detected in HPTs

HPT- Home pregnancy test

HSG- Hysterosalpingogram (an x-ray using dye to check fallopian tubes)

ICSI- Microfertilization

IUI- Intrauterine insemination

IVF- In vitro fertilization

LH- Luteinizing hormone detected in OPKs

LP- Luteal phase or days between ovulation & AF

O or OV- Ovulation

OPK- Ovulation predictor kit

PG- Pregnant or pregnancy

PNV- Pre-natal vitamin

RE- Reproductive endocrinologist

SA- Semen analysis

TCOYF-  Taking Charge of Your Fertility book

TR- Tubal reversal 

TTC- Trying to conceive
