Christmas stocking

It is already December and the final countdown to Christmas has begun. Though most parents are finished with their large shopping purchases many are still picking out smaller toys to stuff in stockings. If you are wondering what to get for your preschooler as a little something extra then look no further.

Here are the top ten stocking stuffer ideas for any preschooler in your life. Simple, fun, and low cost you can make them smile by having Santa fill their stockings with these gifts.

  1. Small toy cars, trucks, and trains. Preschoolers love action and things that go. Small toy vehicles are a perfect stocking stuffer for any preschooler. You can usually buy single vehicles for a cheap in a huge variety of styles. Wooden, plastic, or metal, from commercial brands to generic versions. Toy vehicles should be at the top of any list.
  2. Colored dough and clay. Preschoolers love to squish, smash, and create with balls of colored dough and clay. Many stores sell small packs that will easily fit in any stocking for only a few dollars. If you want a gift that you know they will love to pull out of their stocking this is a sure hit.
  3. Crayons and markers. Almost all preschoolers love to color and draw. Adding a simple box of crayons or markers will light up their eyes on Christmas morning. You can also add in a small coloring book for them to double the joy.
  4. Simple sewing kits or beads and string. Preschoolers are developing their hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. So why not stuff their stocking with a fun toy that helps them improve these skills. There are many simple sewing kits today designed for preschoolers in mind. Look for those with dull needles, thick string, and pre-punched holes. These mimic the motions of hand stitching while safely helping your preschooler build their skills. Also look for simple beading kits made for preschoolers. They include fat beads with large holes that are easily threaded onto string or cord. Your preschooler can work on patterns while developing manual dexterity.
  5. Finger puppets. Small and cute, just like your preschooler. Make believe is very important to preschoolers, and puppets are often a favorite toy. Inexpensive finger puppets can often be found in a variety of themes to suit any preschooler's favorite game. You can line them up with their heads peering out of the top of the stocking for an extra Christmas morning surprise.
  6. Playsilks and silk scarves. Playsilks are large silk scarves that can have thousands of uses for preschool play. Young children often love using them for dress-up play, to create small indoor forts, and putting together play areas. You can find them in a variety of beautiful colors for very little, they make a brightaddition to any stocking.
  7. CD's of children's songs. Preschoolers love to move and groove so having music to dance to at home or in the car is something to smile about. You can find Cd's of music for kids in any style that you could imagine, from classic nursery songs to modern music redone for kids. Fairly inexpensive, a CD is a great small gift to put in your preschooler's stocking for Christmas.
  8. Musical instruments. Children do not just love hearing music, they love making it as well. There are many small, inexpensive musical toys that can used as stocking stuffers. Bells, small maracas, and even tambourines can be fun additions to a preschooler's stocking. Older preschoolers may also love simple harmonicas or wooden recorders in their stockings. You can find child sized simple instruments in most stores or online without a high price tag.
  9. Toy jewelry. Fake rings, necklaces, even crowns and tiaras are fun gifts that preschoolers love. Both boys and girls love to dress up and pretend to be someone else, filling their stockings with fake jewelry that they can use to dress up with is a great way to make your preschooler happy on Christmas morning.
  10. Letter, number, and shape magnets. Small magnets that preschoolers can play with on the refrigerator door or any metal surface are a great choice for a stocking stuffer. They are small and inexpensive yet can bring hours of fun as your preschooler arranges and rearranges them again and again. These magnets can also be an educational toy for helping your child learn to recognise letters, shapes, numbers, and create small words.

Finding simple, inexpensive, yet fun stocking stuffers for the preschooler in your life can seem difficult amongst all the larger, high priced toys advertised. Using this simple list you can fill your preschooler's stocking with lots of joy for their Christmas morning.
