As soon as I became pregnant with my son, everything suddenly became
all about "the baby." While it was great to plan and get gifts from
people for the baby, it was also nice to know that my husband and
others remember that a mom-to-be needs pampering and attention like
never before. Here are some great ideas for the pregnant woman in your
life.
1. Prenatal massage
Of the 20 or so women I surveyed for this list, all of them said that
they would want prenatal massage of some sort during pregnancy. I had
these monthly and they were simply fantastic! You can check out
spafinders.com or find a place through recommendations in your area.
You can get her a gift certificate to a spa that you know she likes or
you can get her packages ranging from a massage to intricate pampering
experiences that include massage, facials and other services, like
manicures or pedicures. This will make a woman feel extra special.
Check out spafinder.com for a spa near you.
2. Luxurious Robe
These two beautiful robes will make the pregnant mom feel like she’s wrapped in a luxurious cocoon.
The sleep Comfort U Pillow
will surround the pregnant mom, helping to support her back and belly.
You could also include some luxury sheets or a puffy comforter. I loved
to snuggle up in bed with my sleeping pillow when I was pregnant with
my son.
4. Flowering-Plant Delivery
Harry and David
have a flowering-plant-of-the-month club that can go from three to
twelve months. The beautiful plants that would add color to the
pregnant mom’s world and make her feel special each month when her
plant arrives—and they won’t die after a week! She’ll enjoy mums,
lilies, hyacinths and more. You can even time it to overlap the baby’s
birth, so she can take a quick break to see something beautiful in
between changing diapers and feedings.
5. Gift Certificate or Treat of Manicure and Pedicure
This
can be a real treat for anyone, but when I was pregnant, keeping up
with things like my toenails got hard toward the end, even just being
able to reach to cut them! Granted, for the first three months, it
would have been very hard for me to step foot in a place with such
strong smells, so probably later in pregnancy is better. Some people
don’t use nail polish while pregnant, but I did. I would probably stay
away from nail fills, because those are really caustic chemicals to
breathe in during pregnancy. Most towns and cities have a nail spa and
they usually have gift certificates as well.
6. Grocery Store or Food Delivery
Many people won’t order food out or get groceries delivered as a habit,
but this would be a great gift for a pregnant woman (or even a new
mom!).
Seamless Web
is a takeout site where you can order from pretty much any restaurant
in your neighborhood or town. This is available mostly in cities (and
they are adding more all the time). Click here to see if Seamless Web is available where you live.
Peapod
is a grocery delivery service available in Chicago, Milwaukee, S.E.
Wisconsin, CT, MA, RI, NY, NJ, DC, MD and VA. Click here to see if they
deliver to your address. You may have seen ads for a grocery store or
chain that delivers in your area and offers gift certificates. It will
be appreciated!
7. Care package/gift basket
A gift basket can be purchased already made or you can make one
yourself with products you choose. These can include body lotions,
music CDs or DVDs, aromatherapy, chocolate, and more. Here are some
preassembled gift sets:
Find out where she gets her hair done and get her a gift certificate.
Some women also color their hair while pregnant and others don’t. If
she does, you can splurge and give her the royal treatment!
