Our parents kept photo albums and "baby books" chronicling our early lives. Thanks to the internet, we can now do something very similar with our computers -- keep a baby blog! Starting a pregnancy or baby blog can be a very simple way to record for yourself, your friends and your family a very exciting, and sometimes challenging, part of your life.
Some great reasons to start a pregnancy or baby blog are:
Blog to Keep your Family and Friends In the Loop
You have a big family and want to be able to update them all at once about developments, problems, doctor's visits, etc. We started our pregnancy blog when I started bleeding heavily in my first trimester. We wanted to keep everyone updated about what was going on. We also posted results of testing, pictures of some of the cute gifts we had been given for our son, and funny pregnancy-related stories
You want to post pictures of ultrasounds or belly picture. You might feel self conscious about your belly right now, but everyone loves a pregnant belly and you can't be fat AND pregnant at the same time!
Blog to Save Time
Instead of having a phone list for several people to call when your baby is born, you can have someone post that the baby has arrived. It's fun to read the well wishes and excitement of those reading your blog, and you have a record of the first comments about your child arriving into the world (probably a good idea to back these up if they are important to you!).
When you're pregnant and tired or you have a new baby, it can be difficult to have more than a few free minutes. With a blog, you can write small snippets or write longer entries a little at a time.
Who needs to send photos through the mail when you can just post them online?
Blog to Connect with Other Mommy and Daddy Bloggers
Believe it or not, there is a large network of bloggers out there to connect with. Just google some key words like "baby blog" or "mommy blogger" and you'll come up with lots of interesting blogs and maybe even some people who you find hilarious and can connect with. You'll also find that you're not alone in any of the feelings you might be having about being a parent. There is always someone out there who can relate.
