Try getting hold of a favourite recipe book and combine with a selection of culinary items that seem appropriate. For example:

• French cookery book with a bottle of champagne and a crystal champagne flute.
• Spanish recipes with earthenware dishes and a selection of olives, ham and other delicacies
• Indian cookery with a spice selection

Moms that travel:

Get hold of one of the season´s great read for the beach, and place it in a travel bag with a selection of travel cosmetics, some sun cream and some fashionable new sun glasses.Alternatively, buy a travel guide or a memoir appropriate for her favourite travel destination.

There are hundreds of books on gardening around, and perhaps you mom has a special interest? Organic gardening, patio gardening, water features... there are many branches (sorry!) waiting to be discovered. Combine with a new set of hand tools, or some secateurs, a new trug, gardening clogs, or perhaps even a fruit tree or two that your Mom can watch grow over the years.

Well, all moms are beautiful of course, but some are more interested in the “health and beauty” world than others! A book on make-up techniques or latest trends, a subscription to a magazine that specialises in the topic... then just add a selection of cosmetics, or a voucher for a Spa day and your Mom will feel pampered and beautiful thanks to you!

Musical Moms:

Try combining a CD of her favourite music with a book or biography on a favourite artist. ( My Dad loves Frank Sinatra, so have to confess I cheated and used this for him too! But it went down very well!) Depending on the artist or music in question, you may be able to get a DVD to complement the set. Whatever your Mom likes, you can be sure that with a little thought and preparation, you can say “I love you Mom” in a very different way this year.
