There comes a time in every girl’s life where the prospect of getting the glue and glitter out of the cupboard does not fill us with creative joy that it used to. Happily this usually coincides with the time our mothers have had their fill of everything heart shaped and glittery. It is time to look for some more adult, but none-the-less thoughtful ways of saying thank you, Mom, you’re the best. Here are some Mother's Day gifts with a difference.
This bath caddy comes with book holder (that allows you to tilt to your preferred angle) a candle holder and 2 glass holders…all it needs is a plasma TV (which is sadly lacking, how rude) but I think any mum will agree that if you swapped the TV for a cast iron guarantee that they will NOT be disturbed for at least an hour, they would be happy.
Hmm, I can see your eyebrows raised at this one…but it’s a feel-good present, and it really does keep on giving. In a world that can be perceived as overly-commercial, cancel out some of those generic non-fair-trade chocolates with this gift.
Go to the Save the Children web site, and for as little as a few dollars you can give the gift of school books, mosquito nets and yes, even a hairy yak, on behalf of your mum. She will get a beautiful card with a picture of her gift, a personalised message from you and information on how your gift will make a massive difference to children and mothers across the world.
So this one is probably the most costly, but it is seriously cool. Check out the web site, but the general idea is you find a great picture of yourself, your siblings, the whole family, or your mum if she is the photogenic type. Then you send in every digital picture you have ever taken, and they create a mosaic of the chosen frame with all your individual pictures!
It makes a fantastic piece of art, and constant reminder of all those holidays etc, and you can scan in all your baby shots too so it really is a something that spans the ages. I’m sure there are many companies that offer this, but this one in particular are very helpful and informative; they will talk you through all the technical jargon of Jpegs etc and suggest the best photo if you are in two minds. Any mother would be proud to hang it on her wall!
