Moms know that life is often hectic. Whether its running the bus service for your kids, coping with the inevitable sibling squabbles, managing several crazy schedules, its up to you to figure out how to balance it all--family, work and life.
This is a list of healthy suggestions that I have compiled from my own coping strategies and those suggested by other Moms. Share the healthy things you do to make it through your day and take a "Mom Moment" or "Dad Moment" to restore yourself as a parent.
We all have little things that help us make it through the day. It may
be sipping a cup of coffee or tea, taking a 2 minute bathroom breather
break or one of my favorites, putting on some energizing- scented hand
creme (my favorite these days is grapefruit).
Some of the things that work for me or have been suggested by other Moms include:
Taking a deep breath
Drinking a cup of hot chocolate
Running and sitting a hot bath
Standing under a warm shower
Taking a 2 minute, "Time Out" in the Bathroom
Reading a magazine
Relaxing in a park or meadow
Sitting outside and watching the world go by
Writing an article
Watching a funny sitcom or movie
Sipping a cup of tea
Putting a wonderful scented hand cream or hand lotion on for 30 seconds
Taking a decaf coffee break at a coffee house
Taking a brisk walk
Spending a day at the spa
Relaxing by the lake or the beach (which doesn't seem to happen that often)
Share What Works
Post and share the healthy things you do to make it through your day and take a "Mom Moment" or a "Dad Moment" to restore yourself as a parent.
Remember...your simple way of coping might be a very helpful technique to a frazzled mom (or dad) who is near the end of their rope.
