I was chit-chatting with my husband's work colleague about friends. I was wondering if a person could ever have enough friends. My new friend asked me to explain. I told her I sometimes feel that I made all my mommy friends when my older two children were babies through early-elementary school age.

Reuniting Old Friends with a Wii

When my children were babies and toddlers it was so easy to plan a dinner out at a friend's house. All we needed to do was fill a diaper bag with food, bottles, and diapers and head out for the night. Fast forward to having a school-aged child or two and it becomes increasingly hard to find a night without a band concert, soccer practice or a birthday party.

More years ago than I care to remember I was in the throes of labor. Trussed up like a Christmas turkey and surrounded by my husband and a host of strangers in masks, I was being told to "take a deep breath and push!" Pushing was the last thing I felt like doing at that moment. My body felt like it was exploding and I wasn't sure I was even going to survive. But I pushed and pushed, and it wasn't long until our baby was born and motherhood began.
