I promised to do this a little while back... to tell you the story of the day we received our referral. It seems especially right to tell the story now, as we marvel at the change in our daughter when we compare last Christmas to this one. Getting our referral phone call wiped away the drudge of the months of paperwork and the pain and impatience once we were on the waiting list. The day we saw our daughter for the first time, via email, was magical.

Nebraska's Safe Haven Law has been Revised

Last week, Nebraska's Safe Haven law, which allowed children up to the age of 18 to be dropped off at hospitals without questions, was revised to limit the protection to infants under 30 days old.

The Real Wait for Adoptions from China

A quick look at the web sites of adoption agencies working to facilitate adoptions in China shows a ‘wait time’ of anything from 20 months to 3+ years. But with a history of referrals after as few as 6 months and rumors of a wait of more than five years, what are prospective adoptive parents supposed to expect if they start the process now?
